“A lifelong student of nature, with a lifelong love of books and the adventures they provide.”
Michael Murray has always been drawn to the strange and the wild. His fascination with carnivorous plants began in childhood and never let go, growing over the years into a deep, hands-on expertise that anchors his nonfiction.
By training he is a Physician Assistant with more than twenty-five years in medicine and a degree in biology—a background that shapes the careful, evidence-minded way he writes about the living world.
He makes his home in Virginia, where his free hours are spent fly fishing for native brook trout in small mountain streams and hiking the trails of Shenandoah National Park. Plant Carnivory is his second work of nonfiction; The Outcasts marks his debut as a novelist.
Both books launch under Bog Light Books, the independent imprint he founded to publish work from the edge of the bog—where science, story, and a touch of the uncanny meet.
